Rainy Day Activities on the Gold Coast: Indoor Options for Wet Days

The Gold Coast's subtropical climate means the wet season and occasional summer storm days can disrupt outdoor plans, but the city's large tourism infrastructure means there are solid indoor options. The major theme parks (Dreamworld, Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World) have significant covered and indoor sections that are operable in rain; Sea World's marine mammal shows and Movie World's studio sections are largely undercover. HOTA (Home of the Arts) at Surfers Paradise is the Gold Coast's main cultural venue, with gallery exhibitions, cinema and performing arts in a contemporary building. The Gold Coast City Gallery at HOTA has free entry. Timezone and Strike Bowling have locations in Pacific Fair and other centres. Indoor climbing gyms have opened in the Molendinar and Nerang areas. The Star Casino in Broadbeach has extensive indoor entertainment. The Pacific Fair and Robina Town Centre are the two largest shopping centres for practical wet-day retail. Escape rooms are available across the city.
