Best Surf Beaches on the Gold Coast: Breaks for Every Level

The Gold Coast is one of Australia's premier surfing destinations, with a range of breaks suited to all ability levels along the 57-kilometre coastline. Snapper Rocks at Coolangatta, site of the annual Gold Coast Pro, offers world-class right-handers for experienced surfers. Burleigh Heads and Currumbin are popular mid-coast breaks with good form on a southerly swell. For beginners, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach have beach breaks with surf schools operating year-round. Currumbin Alley, just inside the creek mouth, is gentle and protected and a good starting point for learners. Surf Life Saving Queensland patrols most major beaches between the flags; swimming and surfing between them is strongly advised.
