Bars and Nightlife on the Gold Coast: Surfers Paradise, Burleigh and Live Music
The Gold Coast's nightlife spans the full range from tourist-oriented Surfers Paradise clubs to sophisticated Burleigh Heads cocktail bars and Broadbeach casino entertainment. Surfers Paradise's Cavill Avenue and the surrounding streets have the most concentrated late-night entertainment with clubs, sports bars and live music that cater primarily to the tourist and young visitor market. Broadbeach's Star Casino complex has a full entertainment, bar and dining offering including Vegas-style shows. James Street in Burleigh Heads is the sophisticated end of the Gold Coast bar scene, with cocktail bars, wine bars and craft beer venues that attract the more affluent residential population of the southern beaches. Nobby Beach's Surf Parade has several well-regarded independent bars with a surfers' local character. Main Beach's Tedder Avenue has an affluent neighbourhood bar culture. The craft beer and local distillery scene has grown notably in recent years, with several Gold Coast producers operating taprooms in the hinterland and inner suburbs. HOTA (Home of the Arts) at Surfers Paradise runs evening cultural programs alongside its bar and food facilities.
