Venture Funding Drives Gold Coast Tech Expansion Behind Household AI Trend
Local startups secured fresh capital rounds this month as demand rises for AI tools aimed at families.
How we reported this

Gold Coast startups raised 42 million Australian dollars in seed and Series A rounds during the second quarter of 2026, with the bulk directed at AI applications for home use.
The timing aligns with OpenAI’s push into family-oriented subscriptions announced earlier this month, prompting local investors to back similar tools that manage household schedules and child safety features. Gold Coast firms see an opening to adapt those models for regional needs rather than compete head-on with global players.
Funding lands near Surfers Paradise and Southport
Two deals closed last week at offices along Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise, where the Gold Coast Innovation Hub runs its monthly pitch nights. Another round went to a team based in the Southport Digital Precinct, which hosts the city council’s Smart City pilot program launched in March 2025.
Those locations now account for 68 percent of the quarter’s tech allocations, according to records filed with the Queensland Business Registry on 9 July.
Next steps for founders and residents
Companies that reach revenue targets by December can apply for matching grants through the same Southport precinct program. Residents interested in testing the new household tools can join waitlists posted on the Innovation Hub site before the next demo day on 28 August.
