Gold Coast AI developers secured $12.4 million in new venture rounds during the second quarter of 2026, following Ollama's $65 million raise announced on July 9.

The timing aligns with larger market shifts where companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI posted valuations exceeding the combined exits of the prior 25 years in tech. Gold Coast firms now position themselves to capture downstream demand for open-source tools that power local apps in tourism and logistics.

Funding flows into specific precincts

Two Gold Coast addresses stand out in the latest filings. The Gold Coast Innovation Centre on Queen Street in Southport hosted three portfolio companies that closed seed extensions between May and June. Meanwhile the Bundall Business Park on Upton Street saw a new accelerator cohort backed by the Gold Coast City Council’s Digital Innovation Program, which allocated $1.8 million in matching grants this year.

Local usage data supports the investment case. Ollama reported nearly 9 million active users worldwide on July 9, and internal telemetry from the Southport centre shows 2,400 Gold Coast-based developers downloading the tool each month since January. Average deal size for the five local rounds tracked by the council reached $2.48 million, up from $1.1 million in the same period last year.

Next steps for founders

Companies planning to pitch should register for the next intake at the Bundall Business Park by July 31. The program requires a working prototype and a one-page revenue forecast; accepted teams receive office space plus introductions to the three local funds that participated in the recent quarter.
