Gold Coast Winter Markets: The Cost, Access and Everything You Need to Know Before Going
Rising transport fares and limited parking slots are shaping visits to key outdoor events across the city this July.
How we reported this

Entry to the Carrara Markets remains free for the winter season that opened on 4 July, yet drivers now pay $12 for all-day parking at the adjacent Showgrounds lot after council fees rose on 1 July.
Winter draws more locals to open-air venues because daytime temperatures hover around 21 degrees, pushing families toward weekend outings rather than indoor malls. Council records show attendance at Gold Coast markets climbed 18 percent last July compared with the prior year.
Two venues anchor the scene. The Carrara Markets on Nerang-Broadbeach Road run every Saturday from 6am to 2pm, while the Miami Marketta on Miami Beach Road operates Friday evenings until 10pm with live music stages. Both sites sit within 800 metres of TransLink bus stops on routes 700 and 777.
Gold Coast City Council data released in May lists average weekend attendance at 9,200 people across the two markets. Public transport fares increased to $4.80 for a single adult trip from 1 July, and the new contactless payment system on all buses accepts Opal cards or credit cards without cash.
Transport and parking details
Light-rail users can reach Broadbeach South station then transfer to the 777 bus for Miami, cutting total travel time to 22 minutes from Surfers Paradise. On-site parking at Carrara fills by 8am on Saturdays, so organisers recommend the overflow lot on Gooding Drive that charges $8 and runs a free shuttle every 10 minutes.
What to carry and expect
Visitors should bring cash for individual stalls because many vendors still do not accept cards. A reusable coffee cup saves $1 at participating food trucks, and the council asks guests to carry identification because random bag checks continue under the current security roster that began on 15 June.
Check the council website the night before for any last-minute stall changes or weather alerts, then plan the return trip around the final 777 bus departure at 10:45pm from Miami Beach Road.
