Parking rates at Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise rose to $12 for two hours on 1 July, with full-day options now listed at $28 through the Gold Coast City Council app.
The change arrives as more locals and visitors head to the coast during July and August when daytime temperatures average 21 degrees and overnight lows dip to 12.
Two named locations already show the impact. At Kurrawa Park in Broadbeach, the council removed the first-hour free period on weekends, while Tallebudgera Creek Recreation Centre added a $4 entry fee for non-residents using its picnic shelters and kayak launch points.
Transport and entry prices
TransLink data released last month recorded a 14 percent jump in Gold Coast bus boardings on route 700 between Miami and Southport compared with the same period in 2025. A single adult fare on that corridor costs $5.40 with a go card, and the service runs every 15 minutes from 6am.
Theme park shuttle tickets from Gold Coast Airport to Warner Bros. Movie World now start at $22 return, up $3 from last winter. The airport itself charges $6 for the first 30 minutes of short-term parking.
Practical steps before travel
Download the council parking app before arrival and pre-book any creek or park shelter through the online portal to avoid on-site queues. Check the TransLink journey planner the night before for real-time bus times, especially on routes serving Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise after 8pm.
Pack layers as advised in recent travel guides, but leave extra footwear at home since most beach and park access points remain within short walks of bus stops or paid parking zones.
