Core Flow Pilates opened July 1 in the space that once housed a surfboard rental shop on Goodwin Terrace in Burleigh Heads.

The shift tracks a wider move in the suburb toward daily fitness routines that fit around work and school drop-offs. Gold Coast City Council data shows wellness-related businesses in the area rose from 12 in 2023 to 27 by early 2026. Residents cite easier access to classes that run before 7am and after 5pm as the main draw.

New spots fill former retail shells

Two blocks south, The Reset Room took over a corner tenancy on Burleigh Street that sat empty for 14 months. It now runs infrared sauna sessions at $35 for 45 minutes and partners with the Active Gold Coast program for discounted memberships. A short walk away at Tallebudgera Creek, the weekly Saturday market added a dedicated stretch-and-mobility zone run by local instructors who previously operated out of pop-up tents.

These additions sit alongside the longstanding Burleigh Heads Surf Lifesaving Club, which still runs nippers on Sunday mornings but now shares its car park with cars dropping off clients for 6am reformer classes. Council footpath counts recorded 18 percent more pedestrians on weekday mornings in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period two years earlier.

What to expect next

Planning documents lodged with the council show two more former retail sites on Goodwin Terrace are slated for conversion into a recovery lounge and a nutrition bar by December. Locals who want to try the new options can book through the Active Gold Coast app, which lists current timetables and same-day availability. Early sessions at Core Flow still have space on weekday mornings.
